Supreme Court Clarification: Exemption Request by Chief Justice Addressed

The Supreme Court office has issued a clarification notice addressing the recent controversy surrounding the exemption sought by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The notice justifies the exemption, emphasizing that while exemption cards were not issued to the Chief Justice, due consideration was given to the unique circumstances.

The letter reveals that despite not having the official exemption cards, Justice Qazi Faez Isa complied with the security check conducted by a lady security staff member. Notably, he also declined the use of the VIP lounge and services during the process.

The clarification further highlights that such exemptions are typically extended to retired Supreme Court judges and their spouses but are not applicable to sitting judges. Justice Qazi Faez Isa specifically sought this exemption, reflecting his commitment to adhering to the established protocols and maintaining equality in the application of security measures.

The notice aims to provide transparency regarding the Chief Justice’s actions, clarifying that the sought exemption was in line with existing protocols and was not an exception granted solely to Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
