The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has granted in-principle approval for a revamped four-year LLB programme, designed to meet international benchmarks while addressing Pakistan’s legal education needs.
The decision came after a three-day meeting of the National Curriculum Review Committee for Law, where stakeholders reviewed and updated the existing curriculum to enhance its relevance and rigour. The new programme aims to produce graduates with a stronger foundation in legal principles, practical skills, and ethical standards.
Once formally approved through statutory processes, the updated curriculum will be implemented across Pakistani universities, replacing the traditional five-year LLB programme. The move is expected to bring legal education in Pakistan in line with global practices and improve employability for law graduates.
HEC officials emphasized that the reforms reflect feedback from legal experts, academics, and industry professionals, ensuring that the curriculum remains contemporary and competitive. Further details on the revised syllabus and implementation timeline will be announced after final approvals.
