In its 244th meeting held today at 11 AM in Islamabad, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has introduced a new sub-rule (6) in Rule 108-C of the Pakistan Legal Practitioners Bar Councils Rules, 1976. This new rule pertains to the uniform of law students and apprentices.
Key Provisions of the New Rule:

Dress Code: Male students will wear a white shirt with a gray coat and maroon tie, while female students will wear a maroon dupatta/shawl/scarf with a gray coat. Male apprentices will wear a white shirt with a black coat and maroon tie, while female apprentices will wear a black coat with a maroon dupatta/shawl/scarf.

Research Work: Undergraduate law students attending court premises and proceedings for research work must follow the same dress code.

Election Participation: Apprentices, pupils, and undergraduate law students are not allowed to participate or campaign in Bar Council and Bar Association elections.

Complaint Procedure: The Executive Committee of the concerned Bar Council will decide complaints regarding non-compliance with the new rules, with consequences including increased apprenticeship/pupilage periods.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mansoor Usman Awan, Attorney-General for Pakistan and Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council. The new rules aim to maintain a professional and respectful atmosphere in the legal profession.
