In response to the severe heatwave affecting the city, the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) has issued a notice granting temporary relief to lawyers from wearing black coats for 7-10 days. This decision aims to mitigate the risks of heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses among legal professionals.
The KBA’s notice, issued today, outlines that while this measure is in place for a limited period, wearing black coats will become compulsory again after the specified days. The initiative has been welcomed with enthusiasm by the legal community, who have been struggling with the oppressive heat during their daily duties.
“We are extremely pleased with this decision,” said one lawyer. “It provides much-needed relief in this hot weather, allowing us to focus on our work without the added discomfort of the heavy black coat.”
Another lawyer expressed similar sentiments, noting the importance of such measures for the well-being of legal professionals. “This initiative not only helps us cope with the extreme heat but also shows that the KBA is attentive to our health and working conditions.”
The notice has been widely circulated among the members, with instructions that the relaxation is temporary and will be strictly enforced for the specified duration only. After this period, all lawyers will be required to revert to the standard dress code.
This proactive step by the KBA highlights the association’s commitment to the welfare of its members, ensuring that they can perform their duties safely and comfortably even in challenging weather conditions.
