Karachi Bar Association Elections 2026 to Adopt Biometric Voting System

The forthcoming Karachi Bar Association (KBA) Elections 2026 will be conducted through a biometric voting system, marking a significant step towards ensuring transparency and credibility in the electoral process. In this regard, the Sindh Bar Council, through a notification issued on June 8, directed members to provide their biometric thumb impressions from June 9 at the Consultancy Hall, District Courts Karachi.

The biometric verification process is being carried out to authenticate voters and facilitate the implementation of biometric voting during the elections. Thousands of advocates associated with the Karachi Bar Association are expected to complete the registration process before polling takes place.

The decision to adopt biometric voting comes in the wake of concerns raised during previous bar elections, including allegations of attempts to influence the electoral process. The system has already been utilized in elections of the Sindh High Court Bar Association over the past several years and is now being introduced for the Karachi Bar Association elections to minimize the risk of impersonation, duplicate voting, and other electoral irregularities, thereby promoting a fair and transparent election process.
