The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited applications for its Law Graduate Scholarship Program for eligible students from Balochistan seeking to pursue LLM and PhD studies in Pakistan and abroad.
Applicants must submit their applications online through the HEC Scholarship Portal at https://scholarship.hec.gov.pk/#/lgsp. No hard copies of applications or supporting documents are required at the application stage. Candidates are required to deposit a non-refundable test fee of Rs. 1,000 through the 1Link 1Bill payment system and verify the payment through their scholarship dashboard before submitting the application.
To be eligible, applicants must possess a domicile or local certificate of Balochistan and have completed an LLB or LLM degree from an HEC-recognized institution with at least 50% marks. The maximum age limit is 30 years for LLM applicants and 35 years for PhD applicants. Candidates must also secure a minimum of 50% marks in the aptitude test and must have completed their required qualification on or before January 13, 2026. Result-awaiting students and candidates already availing any other scholarship are not eligible to apply.
Scholarships will be awarded strictly on merit, based on academic credentials and aptitude test scores. Additionally, 15–20% of scholarships have been reserved for children of families affected by the August 8, 2016 Quetta tragedy, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria. Foreign scholarship applicants must secure admission in a university ranked among the top 500 institutions in the QS World University Rankings, while LLM scholarships within Pakistan will be limited to HEC-recognized public sector universities and programs.
Serving advocates, judicial officers, prosecutors, and law faculty members may also apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria and obtaining the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) and study leave from their respective organizations.
