Lawyers Welfare and Protection Bill 2023 Passed by National Assembly

On Wednesday, 29th March National Assembly Passed the Bill titled as “Lawyers Welfare and Protection Act 2023”. The bill will be awaiting to be an Act until the Passing of it in Senate.

Sindh Assembly has already Passed the similar bill, although the bill passed by National Assembly has more Wider impact in many ways. In citing the Statement of Objects and Reasons of Passing such Bill, they states,

“This law is also in consonance with the various UN Central Assembly Resolutions and in line with the Eighth United Nations Congress held in September, 199O at Havana, Cuba, where it has adopted the “Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers” which provides that the Government shall ensure that lawyers are able to perform all of their professional functions without intimidation, hindrance, harassment, or improper interference and where the security of lawyers is threatened as a result of discharging their functions, they shall be adequately safeguarded by the authorities.”

The Bill restricted Advocates in the Legal Advisory section, restraining them from consulting more than 3 cooperations.
