Quetta Bar Association Inaugurates First Lawyers’ Mess in Balochistan

In a landmark development for the legal community in Balochistan, the Quetta Bar Association inaugurated the province’s first-ever Lawyers’ Mess at the District Court (Kachari) on Monday. The ceremony was led by Quetta Bar Association President Qari Rahmatullah, Vice President Hamira Munir, Joint Secretary Khalid Nasir, Finance Secretary Asghar Khan Mandokhel, Vice President Kachlak Nasibullah Agha, Library Secretary Kamran Bangalzai, and other prominent members of the legal fraternity.

The Lawyers’ Mess is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing quality food at affordable rates exclusively for lawyers. This facility will serve breakfast and lunch, offering nutritious and hygienic meals to legal professionals at highly subsidized prices. The mess will be restricted to lawyers only, ensuring a dedicated space for them to recharge and network during their demanding workdays.

The establishment of the Lawyers’ Mess is expected to have a profound impact on the legal profession in Balochistan, particularly for young and low-income lawyers.

The legal profession is physically and mentally demanding, requiring long hours in courtrooms, extensive research, and client meetings. Proper nutrition is essential for lawyers to maintain their health and focus. However, many young lawyers, especially those starting their careers, struggle with low wages and find it difficult to afford quality meals. The Lawyers’ Mess addresses this issue by providing nutritious food at reasonable rates, ensuring that lawyers can stay fit and energized throughout their workday.

Young lawyers often face financial constraints as they build their practice. The high cost of living, coupled with the irregular income typical of the profession, makes it challenging to manage daily expenses. The subsidized rates at the Lawyers’ Mess will significantly reduce their financial burden, allowing them to allocate resources to other professional and personal needs.

The mess will serve as a hub for lawyers to interact, exchange ideas, and build professional relationships. This collaborative environment can foster mentorship opportunities, where experienced lawyers guide newcomers, ultimately strengthening the legal community in Balochistan.

Access to quality food within the court premises will save lawyers valuable time that would otherwise be spent searching for meals outside. This convenience will enable them to focus more on their cases and clients, improving overall productivity and

The initiative reflects the Quetta Bar Association’s commitment to the welfare of its members. By addressing a basic yet critical need like food, the association is setting a precedent for other bar associations across the country to prioritize the well-being of legal professionals.

The Lawyers’ Mess in Quetta is the first of its kind in Balochistan and could serve as a model for other provinces. Legal communities across Pakistan often face similar challenges, and the success of this initiative could inspire similar facilities nationwide, benefiting thousands of lawyers.

The inauguration of the Lawyers’ Mess marks a significant milestone for the legal fraternity in Balochistan. By providing affordable, quality meals, the facility not only addresses a pressing need but also underscores the importance of supporting young lawyers in their professional journey. This initiative is a testament to the Quetta Bar Association’s vision and dedication to improving the lives of its members, paving the way for a stronger and more united legal community.

As the mess begins operations, it is expected to become a cornerstone of the legal profession in Balochistan, ensuring that lawyers are well-fed, focused, and ready to uphold justice in the province.
