Sindh Law Minister Assures Extension of Unlimited Pecuniary Jurisdiction to District Courts in Karachi

On January 6, 2025, Barrister Muhammad Sarfaraz Ali Metlo, President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), held a pivotal meeting with Mr. Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, the Honorable Minister for Law, Justice, and the Home Department of the Government of Sindh. The meeting was a significant step in addressing the long-standing issue of extending unlimited pecuniary jurisdiction to the District Courts in the Karachi Division.

During the discussion, Minister Lanjar assured the Bar President that the legislative process for the extension of this jurisdiction has already commenced. He further confirmed that the appropriate law would soon be passed by the Sindh Assembly, marking an important breakthrough for the legal community and the public.

 

This move is seen as a critical milestone for the judicial system in Sindh, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving the legal framework and ensuring the timely delivery of justice to the people.
