High Court of Sindh Discontinues Son/Deceased Quota Policy Following Supreme Court Ruling

Karachi, December 12, 2024: The Hon’ble Administration Committee of the High Court of Sindh has officially announced the discontinuation of the Son/Deceased Quota Policy, following a directive from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. In its judgment dated October 18, 2024, the Supreme Court ruled on Civil Petition No. 3390 of 2021, leading to the withdrawal of the policy that allowed appointments under the “Son Quota.”

The Administration Committee, in its meeting on November 16, 2024, reviewed its previous decision made on November 14, 2009, regarding the Son/Deceased Quota. It was decided that individuals will no longer be eligible for appointments based on this quota system.

The Committee’s resolution, which enforces this change, stresses strict compliance with the updated policy. The official communication, marked Endt: No. HC/ADMI/00312, serves as the formal notice of the policy shift.
