On 25th February, Saturday, Lahore High court Bar Association made an historic move by Electing Sabahat Rizv as the first ever woman Secretary since 1893 which made it 130 years.
Rizvi was a candidate for the “Independent group,” also known as the Asma Jahagnir group. By receiving 4310 votes, Rizvi defeats her two opponents for the position of Secretary, Mian Irfan and Qadir Baksh Chahal, who receive 3745 and 2627 votes, respectively.
Sabahat Rizvi has always blazed new paths in the legal profession and is one of the youngest attorneys in the nation to be admitted as an advocate to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. So, it is not surprise that she is running for one of the most competitive seats in the LHCBA elections, which would seem like an impossibility to most female lawyers.
After Sabahat became a member of the bar in 2002, she toiled assiduously in numerous law offices throughout the city, obtaining significant knowledge and expertise in civil, corporate, and family law. She currently holds a partner position with the illustrious Commons Law Company.
Sabahat Rizvi decided to run in the 2023 LHCBA elections as a result of the underrepresentation of women in the legal system and the bar association.
