In a recent development, The Managing Committee of The Karachi Bar Association has taken a decisive stance by announcing a ban on Israeli products within the premises of the City Courts. This decision, aimed at all Canteen Holders and Vendors operating in the area, prohibits the sale or purchase of various items originating from Israel, including Pepsicola Beverage, Aquafina, Coca Cola, Lu Biscuits, and others.
The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) has implemented a ban on Israeli products at the City Courts premises following an initiative led by Advocate Kainat Ilyas. This decision was prompted by a formal application submitted by Advocate Kainat Ilyas, urging the KBA Committee of 2023 to take action against the sale of Israeli products in the court premises. While the committee of 2023 initially put a ban on these products, the committee of 2024 has taken stricter measures to enforce the ban. Any violation of this ban will result in serious consequences for the delinquent individuals, as per the directive from the KBA Committee.
The notice, issued to ensure strict compliance, emphasizes that any violation of this ban will be met with severe repercussions. Individuals found to be contravening the directive will face serious actions as prescribed by the Committee. This move reflects the Association’s unwavering commitment to certain principles and values, signaling its stance on global issues of significance.
The decision to ban Israeli products within the City Courts premises underscores the Association’s solidarity with causes aligned with international concerns and human rights. It serves as a testament to the Karachi Bar Association’s dedication to upholding ethical standards and advocating for justice, both locally and on broader global platform.
