Punjab has announced that its traditional stamp paper mechanism will end on March 9, transitioning fully to a digital e-Stamp system after the Bank of Punjab reported that the remaining stock of yellow e-stamp papers would be exhausted within days. The Punjab Land Records Authority confirmed that the new software has been developed, internally tested, and is fully ready for implementation across the province.
Under the new system, e-Stamps will now be printed on white paper with a secure digital record, replacing the old yellow format. This change will apply to registries, sale deeds, affidavits, rent agreements, and court documents, and is expected to significantly reduce the chances of fraud or counterfeit stamp papers.
