Sindh Bar Council Condemns Attack on Member, Announces Strike

KARACHI – The Sindh Bar Council has condemned the violent attack on its member, Mr. Iqbal Inayat Jatoi, who sustained serious injuries in an assault involving private goons and police personnel. The incident has sparked outrage among legal professionals in the region.

Kashif Hanif, Vice Chairman of the Sindh Bar Council, and Yasir Arfat Shar, Chairman of the Executive Committee, expressed their strong disapproval of the barbaric act, highlighting the need for justice. Despite the severity of the attack, an FIR has yet to be registered, prompting the Council to take immediate action.

In response, the Sindh Bar Council has announced a full-day strike scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, October 24, 2024, across all courts in Sindh Province. This strike aims to protest the lack of accountability and to demand that the Inspector General of Sindh, the Deputy Inspector General of Karachi, and the relevant Station House Officer (SHO) take swift action to lodge the FIR and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Legal representatives across the province are urged to join the strike in solidarity, underscoring the importance of protecting the integrity of the legal profession and ensuring the safety of its members.

The Sindh Bar Council is calling for immediate reforms to prevent such incidents in the future and to uphold the rule of law in the region. Further updates on the situation and the response from authorities are expected in the coming days.
