Supreme Court of Pakistan today declared the Election Commissioner’s decision of extending KPK and Punjab election to 8th October as Null and Void – the Supreme court announced the decision to be frivolous unconstitutional, illegal and false.
Election Commissioner will ensure fair and just election by 14th may for Punjab, enhancing the period by adding 13 more days after the 30th April due to delay caused by the election commissioner’s improper decision on 22nd March to 4th April Court Verdict and compensating the loss caused of time caused. Further Federal government was directed to provide 20 Arabs Rupees by 10th of April, monitoring the same Surpeme court elaborated that the report regarding the funds will be submitted on 11th April. Supreme court ordered to provide full security facilities to voters during election and restricting all Security officials including DSP’s and SSP’s of Punjab to carry out their duties. While highlighting the matter of the KPK election supreme Court verdicts for the complainant to proceed to the appropriate forum since the Governor of Punjab withdrew the matter during the proceeding. Supreme Court will monitor the whole matter and ensure that if an implementation is not made, the court will find the legal way for the enforcement. The three-member bench announced that the caretaker government is obliged to hold and aid the election commissioner in resuming the election. and in case of any delay, the election commissioner must approach the supreme court. Supreme Court in an Open Verdict clarified the Majority and minority bench decision and rendered Justice Qazi Faez’s decision on 29th March that it makes no effect on the current matter.
