Supreme Court of INDIA Initiates Inquiry Following Alleged Cash Discovery at Delhi HIGH COURT Judge’s Residence

NEW DELHI: After transferring Justice Yashwant Varma from the Delhi High Court to his parent Allahabad High Court, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna has requested a report from Delhi High Court Chief Justice D K Upadhyay regarding the alleged discovery of cash at Justice Varma’s official residence on March 14, during the Holi festival. The CJI received the report on Friday and is expected to decide on forming an inquiry panel by Saturday.

In a rare move, the Supreme Court released a press statement stating that after receiving the information, Delhi HC Chief Justice initiated an in-house inquiry process to gather evidence and details. While the statement did not elaborate on the specific nature of the information, the decision to initiate an inquiry indicates the gravity of the situation. Justice Varma did not hold court on Friday, sparking further speculation about the ongoing investigation.
