Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Inaugurates “Green Courts Project”

QUETTA, Aug 14 (APP): Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, inaugurated the “Green Courts Project” by planting a sapling at the Balochistan High Court (BHC) campus on Wednesday. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the impact of climate change and to provide a greener environment for litigants attending court for legal matters.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice Kakar emphasized the urgent need to address the environmental challenges posed by climate change. He highlighted that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by natural disasters linked to these changes, making it imperative for institutions to take proactive measures.

“The Balochistan High Court is committed to setting a precedent with the introduction of Green Courts in the province. This initiative will commence with each High Court judge planting a tree, symbolizing our collective effort to combat climate change and promote environmental consciousness,” said Justice Kakar.

He further added that the Green Courts Project is not only about planting trees but also about fostering a clean and green environment for those seeking justice. The Chief Justice expressed hope that this initiative would encourage greater environmental responsibility within the community and set a positive example for others to follow.

The Green Courts Project is a significant step towards integrating environmental sustainability into the judicial system, reflecting the Balochistan High Court’s commitment to addressing the pressing issue of climate change.
