Malir Bar Association Holds Protest Against KE’s Unjustified Rates

The Malir Bar Association held a significant protest today against the unjustified electricity rates imposed by K-Electric (KE). The protest, attended by numerous lawyers, called for a reduction in electricity unit rates to Rs. 10 and demanded an end to unfair billing practices for consumption above 200 units.

During the demonstration, participants highlighted the need for a uniform rate for all electricity units, stressing that the current tiered system unfairly burdens consumers with higher charges. The protestors also called for an immediate cessation of extreme load shedding, which has been severely affecting daily life and professional work in the area.

The lawyers of the Malir Bar Association voiced their determination to continue advocating for these changes until their demands are met, emphasizing that affordable and reliable electricity is a basic right for all citizens.

The protest marks a significant moment in the ongoing struggle against high electricity rates and frequent power outages, drawing attention to the pressing need for reforms in the energy sector.
