Lawyers Face Forceful Detention Amidst Political Pressure; Legal Community Rallies in Support

A recent story sheds light on the challenging journey of a law graduate and practicing lawyer, who has faced formidable obstacles in his pursuit of justice. Advocate Junaid Kunbher’s ordeal began tragically, intertwined with a tale of love and societal pressures. Despite choosing to marry the woman he loved, her family’s adherence to societal norms led to her abduction from Karachi, where she was coerced into falsely complainaint against him.

Under mounting political pressures, a false FIR was filed against Junaid, alleging the forgery of his Nikkah Nama. However, the an unreliable resource reports that the document has been verified by the Union Council, with fingerprints confirmed by NADRA, and an affidavit from the Nikkah Khuwan attesting to its authenticity.

Navigating the legal system has been an uphill battle for Junaid, from the high court to the supreme court and back to the district court. Shockingly, the bar association at umarkot, in a controversial move, passed a resolution denying him legal representation, a stark example of abuse of process, victimization, and political influence.

This case underscores the urgent need to address injustices and uphold the rule of law. Advocate Junaid Kunbher, a member of the Karachi Bar Association, has vehemently condemned his forced arrest by Umarkot police, despite having obtained pre-arrest bail from the court. In his video he informs that he had applied for the bail and since the judge was ill he came late around 1 00 pm however he was granted bail with the surety of above 1 lac rupees to which he please that he require to make some phone calls and need at least 20 -25 minutes to arrange the sum but the same was not considered by police official who immediately made the arrest.

That after the video went viral whole legal community gathered to fight for him. Many bar members joined him and plead in support of him. He was then released after the protest.

The convergence of police and judiciary in treating a lawyer as a criminal is deemed unlawful and a disgrace. The legal community stands in solidarity against such actions, demanding accountability for all involved, including the negligent court staff.

Junaid Kunbher’s story is a poignant reminder of our collective duty to uphold justice and ensure that the rule of law prevails in our society.
