KARACHI: In recognition of the elevation of Mr. Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, the esteemed Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a Full Court Reference will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place in Court Room No.1 of the Hon’ble Chief Justice at the High Court of Sindh, Karachi.
The event, organized pursuant to a request by the Association, is a significant occasion to honor the distinguished services and elevation of Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi. The Full Court Reference will bring together the Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Sindh, who are requested to convene in the chamber of the Hon’ble Chief Justice at 11:15 a.m. before proceeding to the Court Room.
The regular court proceedings will be suspended from 11:00 a.m. onwards on the day of the event. However, any urgent matters may be addressed in chambers following the conclusion of the Full Court Reference. This temporary suspension is to ensure that all Hon’ble Judges holding roster sittings at the Principal Seat, Karachi, can attend and participate in the tribute to Justice Abbasi’s elevation.
Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi’s promotion to the Supreme Court is a momentous occasion, reflecting his exemplary judicial career and contributions to the legal fraternity. The Full Court Reference will provide an opportunity for colleagues and members of the judiciary to acknowledge his accomplishments and bid him a ceremonious farewell from the High Court of Sindh as he ascends to the highest court in the country.
