FBR Extends Income Tax Return Filing Deadline for Tax Year 2026 to October 15

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an extension for the filing of Income Tax Returns for the Tax Year 2026. The deadline, originally set for September 30, 2026, has been extended by two weeks to October 15, 2026.

The decision was formalized through Circular No. 3 of 2026-27, issued by the Inland Revenue Division on Wednesday.

According to the official notification, the extension was granted in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. The FBR stated that the decision to extend the date was made “in view of the requests from various trade bodies and tax bar associations.”

The extension applies to all persons who were previously required to file their returns by the September 30 deadline.
