Career, Struggle & Professional Journey

Asif Waheed Korejo, Advocate High Court, is a distinguished legal professional recognized for his dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law. He holds an LL.M from the University of Karachi, graduating with First Division — a testament to his academic excellence and strong legal foundation. With over 11 years of continuous practice, he has earned the respect of the legal fraternity as a competent and principled advocate.

Since 2017, Mr. Korejo has represented and defended numerous organizations and government departments, demonstrating exceptional legal acumen and professional responsibility. He is widely regarded as an intelligent, diligent lawyer who firmly upholds the supremacy of the Constitution.

Mr. Korejo’s legal journey began under the mentorship of his uncle, Mr. Javed Ali Korejo, currently serving in the Sindh Judiciary. This early exposure was instrumental in shaping his legal insight and discipline. In 2015, he joined Azhar Siddiqui & Co., where he was groomed under the guidance of esteemed jurists, including Justice Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui and Moin Azhar Siddiqui — a period that marked the true foundation of his professional development.

He hails from a family with a strong legal tradition. His three brothers are also practicing Advocates of the High Court, associated with reputable law firms, which has further strengthened his legal vision and commitment to the profession.

In 2018, Mr. Korejo co-founded the Jinnah Ka Pakistan Lawyer Forum (JKPLF) with Zaheer H. Memon. Through JKPLF, he initiated legal education sessions and professional training programs at the Karachi Bar Association to build the capacity of young lawyers and foster a culture of learning.

A landmark achievement came in the 2020 Karachi Bar elections. Leading the youngest team among 68 candidates under the JKPLF banner, he secured first position as Member, Managing Committee — a historic mandate that reflected the legal community’s trust in his leadership.

In 2021, he collaborated with the Sindh Judicial Academy to organize structured training sessions at the Jinnah Auditorium, Karachi Bar, for fresh law graduates preparing for the Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT). For the first time, retired judges, senior advocates, and legal experts collectively guided aspirants. As a result, approximately 260 candidates from the Karachi Bar qualified — a record achievement. The same year, he facilitated the publication of a comprehensive guidebook to ensure continuity of such initiatives by future office-bearers.

Elected as Librarian in the 2022 Karachi Bar elections, Mr. Korejo introduced transformative reforms. He oversaw the complete renovation of the Bar Library, established a digital library, restored discontinued law reports and journals, and improved the library environment with indoor plants. He secured advance subscriptions to six online legal research platforms and arranged the donation of three personal law libraries from senior advocates. In a historic first, he established a dedicated Librarian’s chamber within the library to directly address members’ concerns. He also prioritized staff welfare, instituting awards and shields to recognize outstanding performance.

Known for his composed demeanor and deep sense of responsibility, Mr. Korejo has consistently championed the welfare of young lawyers. In 2023, he launched a stipend program granting Rs. 20,000 in financial assistance to deserving young advocates, promoting inclusivity and professional growth at the Bar.

Mr. Korejo now contests for the position of General Secretary, Karachi Bar Association, with a vision rooted in institutional development, legal education, and empowerment of the legal fraternity.

In essence, Asif Waheed Korejo represents dedication, progressive thinking, and service to the profession. His career reflects relentless struggle, tangible achievements, and an enduring commitment to strengthening the legal system and mentoring the next generation of lawyers.
