Pakistan Bar Council Condemns Non-Implementation of Legal Rules and Expresses Concern Over Balochistan Protester Arrests

In a recent press release, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has voiced its strong condemnation for the non-implementation of Rule 175-H to 175-K of the Pakistan Legal Practitioners & Bar Councils Rules, 1976. The PBC emphasized the critical importance of adherence to these rules, which govern the conduct within law fields and uphold the rule of law.

The press release specifically addresses the ban on Lunch/Dinner/meal/ Hi-Tea, and the prohibition of pasting or hanging of Panaflex/Banners/stickers, both inside and outside the court. Additionally, the PBC emphasizes the need for strict adherence to the “Code of Conduct for contesting Election of Bar Associations.” Candidates contesting elections are given a 2-day notice for the removal of such materials, and failure to comply may result in disqualification upon complaint.

Furthermore, the PBC advocates for the establishment of an Election Board for each bar association election, with the board being nominated three months prior to the election. This measure aims to ensure fair and transparent elections within the legal community.

In a separate note, the press release also condemns the brutal arrest of peaceful protesters in Balochistan. The protesters, who have endured years of suffering, are demonstrating against the mysterious disappearance of their loved ones. The PBC underscores the importance of protecting the right to peaceful protest and calls for a swift resolution to address the concerns raised by the Balochistan community.
