The University of Karachi is offering postgraduate admissions 2026 in ME, MS, LLM, MPhil, PhD and M.S. (Surgery), MD (Medicine) and MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) programs for academic session 2026. It was decided during a meeting held under the chairmanship of the KU VC Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. The meeting was held at the KU VC Secretariat and attended by registrar, all deans, director finance, in-charge of semester cell and director of postgraduate admission committee and others.
During the meeting, Director of Postgraduate Admission Committee Prof. Dr. Anila Amber Malik informed the participants that for the first time the KU is also offering admissions in the MDS program.
She shared that in the faculty of arts and social sciences, admissions will be available in Arabic, Economics, English Literature, ELT and Applied Linguistics (Only MPhil Program), History, International Relations, Islamic History, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sindhi (Only MPhil Program), Social Work, Sociology and Urdu.
Dr Anila briefed participants that in the faculty of science, aspiring candidates can apply in the Agriculture and Agribusiness Management, Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Applied Physics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Food Science and Technology, Genetics, Geography, Geology, Physical Therapy, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Physiology, Statistics, Zoology.
She added that in faculty of engineering, admission will be offered in Chemical Engineering, in Faculty of law, School of Law (LLM Program), in faculty of medicine, admissions are announced in MS (Surgery), MD (Medicine) and MDS (Master of Dental Surgery).
According to her, in faculty of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, admissions are available in Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology (HEJ, Research Wing), Pharmacy Practice (Only MPhil Program).
She also shared that in faculty of management and administrative sciences, candidates can apply in Public Administration, Business Administration and Commerce. In faculty of education, admissions will be given in Education, Teacher Education, and Special Education. In faculty of Islamic studies, admissions are announced for Qurโan and Sunnah, Usooluddin, Islamic Learning.
Dr Anila Amber Malik elobrated that MPhil and PhD Programs are also offered by various institutes and centers including Dr A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (Biotechnology), Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (Molecular Medicine), HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry (Chemistry), Dr M. Ajmal Khan Institute of Sustainable Halophyte Utilization (Botany), Marine Reference Collection and Resource Center (Zoology Only MPhil Program), National Nematological Research Center (Nematology), Dr Zafar H. Zaidi Center for Proteomics (Biochemistry), Institute of Space Science and Technology, Center of Excellence for Womenโs Studies, Institute of Marine Science, Institute of Environmental Studies, Center for Plant Conservation, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Research Centre (Islamic Studies with Computer Technology Only MPhil Program), Pakistan Study Centre (Only MPhil Program) and Area Study Centre for Europe (Only MPhil Program).
The Director of Postgraduate Admission Committee Prof. Dr. Anila Amber Malik expressed that the postgraduate admission prospectus 2026, entrance test form and fee voucher can be downloaded from the https://uok.edu.pk/admissions/pg-index.php from June 29 to July 08, 2026.
She mentioned that the duly filled entrance test form, along with academic documents and a paid fee voucher (non-refundable), would be submitted in the respective department by July 08, 2026. Karachi University Entrance Test 2026 is mandatory for all the candidates. The list of eligible candidates will be displayed on the KU website on July 20, 2026 and the admit cards can be collected from July 23 โ 24, 2026 from respective departments, centers, institutes and the test will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 10am.
She said that the list of successful candidates will be announced on the KU website on August 02, 2026. Dr Anila advised candidates to carefully read the prospectus so that they could know about the requirements, eligibility and process related to admissions.
The degree holders from Higher Education Commission recognized foreign or private Pakistani degree awarding institutions should submit an equivalence certificate of the degree obtained from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Academics) of the University of Karachi before the provisional admission.
