Former Lahore Bar Secretary Advocate Muhammad Latif Sara and Advocate Supreme Court Rana Sufyan Sara Shot Dead in Muridke

In a tragic and alarming incident, Advocate Muhammad Latif Sara, former Secretary General of the Lahore Bar Association, and Advocate Rana Sufyan Sara, a practicing Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, were shot dead by unidentified assailants in Muridke on Friday.

According to police sources, the two senior lawyers were traveling in a car when they were targeted by armed men riding motorcycles. The assailants opened fire and fled the scene, leaving both victims dead on the spot. The victims were residents of Nangal Sahdan, a locality already troubled by violent rivalries. Notably, Advocate Latif Sara’s brother had also been killed by opponents just a few months ago, intensifying concerns over persistent threats to the family.

The gruesome killing has sent shockwaves through the legal community and raised serious questions about the state of law and order. In a joint statement, office bearers of the Lahore High Court Bar Association condemned the incident, calling it a heinous, targeted murder and a grave failure on the part of security and law enforcement agencies.

Bar officials stated that such acts have created a deep sense of fear and insecurity among lawyers across Punjab. They demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of all those involved, warning that failure to act will leave the Association with no choice but to initiate strong protest measures.

To discuss the matter further and decide the future course of action, the Lahore High Court Bar Association has called a General Body Meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025.
