Interior Minister Establishes JIT to Investigate Malicious Campaign Against Supreme Court Judges

The Interior Minister, has taken decisive action against the alleged perpetrators of a malicious campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA Law), the minister has formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprised of distinguished officials to probe and bring to justice those responsible for spreading false narratives.

The JIT will be led by Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and will include representatives from key intelligence agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The team also features [Name], Deputy Inspector General of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police, and a representative from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

While the government asserts its commitment to transparency and accountability, there are concerns among sections of the public that view these actions as government tactics to quell dissent and manipulate public opinion. Recent events have led to growing public discontent, with many expressing dissatisfaction after what is perceived as a biased judgment. The public’s trust in the judiciary has been strained, particularly following the resignation of Supreme Court judges during Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s tenure. The Interior Minister acknowledges the need to address these concerns and restore confidence in the judicial system.

The JIT is empowered to conduct a thorough investigation, utilizing the provisions of the PECA Law to bring those involved in the malicious campaign to justice. The government remains committed to upholding the principles of justice and ensuring the integrity of the legal system.
