Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar, Advocate, a member of the Pakistan Bar Council, has strongly condemned the actions taken against Pashtun Khwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, alleging interference in judicial matters. Kakar expressed his dismay over Achakzai being prevented from attending the Supreme Court hearing on the Judges’ letter case, highlighting the fundamental principle of access to justice in Pakistan.
In his statement, Kakar emphasized that Pakistan’s courts are meant to be open to all, irrespective of political affiliations or stature. He criticized the incident involving Achakzai, noting that a white-skinned politician and presidential candidate, who is also a member of the National Assembly, was stopped by the police. This action, according to Kakar, raises serious questions about the integrity of the judicial system and the extent of interference by external forces.
Kakar underscored the responsibility of Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa to investigate such incidents and ensure the sanctity of the judicial process. He pointed out that evidence of institutional interference in judicial matters becomes more apparent when high-profile individuals are obstructed from accessing the courts.
The advocate called on Chief Justice Isa to take immediate notice of the matter and uncover the hidden forces behind Achakzai’s prevention from attending the Supreme Court hearing. He urged the Chief Justice to uphold the principles of justice and transparency, emphasizing the need for accountability in the face of such blatant interference.
Kakar concluded by demanding regular apologies to Mishra Mahmood Khan, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and rectifying any injustices committed against individuals seeking access to justice.
